Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

What is MBCT?

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy is a course designed to help people who suffer from repeated episodes of depression and/or anxiety.  It is based on using both cognitive therapy and mindfulness training to address feelings generated by mood disorders. Mindfulness has been shown in studies to treat anxiety, depression, and stress.  Within as little as 8 weeks of practicing mindfulness, studies of brain function show a change in neurotransmitters. Longer practice of mindfulness has revealed that a change  occurs in actual neuronal structure. MBCT was developed over 15 years ago by cognitive psychologists.

Course Details

MBCT is an eight week course consisting of a 2 hour weekly class, a half day retreat and 45 minutes of home practice a day.
