Helpful Pharmacy Tips:
Pharmacy prices vary widely around town. Ask for price quotes at multiple pharmacies to find the least expensive one in town.
Call the pharmacy and provide with the name of the drug, the quantity and the milligrams to get a quote.
(For example -"I'd like a price check on generic prozac 20mg #30").
Check on GoodRx.com to find the lowest prices in town and print out coupons for your specific pharmacy. They may reduce the price of your medication.
Cost Plus Drugs by Mark Cuban has some really great prices on generic medications.
These are cash pay rather than insurance, but are often less expensive than your insurance co-pay.
Inexpensive generic meds can be obtained locally from Medsavers pharmacy (1800 West 35th Street, Austin 78703).
Medsavers does not accept insurance.
Walgreen’s has a Prescription Savings Program -Membership is $25 a year and some generics are $5-15 each.
Ask the pharmacist if you qualify.
HEB may also have a Membership program - so be sure to ask.
HealthWarehouse.com is a discount online pharmacy where prescriptions can be mailed, faxed or emailed. You can set up an account and pay online and the medication will be mailed to you.
Labs:
If you don't have insurance or can't meet your deductible, labs can be obtained at Any Lab Test Now.
Compare their prices to other labs in town. They are often much less expensive.
